Former Trade and Industry Minister, Kobina Tahir Hammond, has threatened to take legal action against the Finance Minister and the Auditor-General of Ghana over a report that allegedly implicates him in wrongful financial transactions.

Speaking in an interview on Ekosii Sen on Asempa FM, Mr Hammond denied any wrongdoing and described the allegations as false.

He expressed concern over what he described as a lack of procedural fairness, arguing that he was not given the opportunity to respond to the claims before the report was made public.

“It’s untrue that I have embezzled such money. I should be allowed to understand what is going on and have my side heard before the report is brought out,” he said.

Mr Hammond further demanded a retraction and apology, insisting that the allegations—reportedly involving GH¢29 million—have damaged his reputation.

“They should be ready to meet me in court. You don’t make such claims lightly,” he warned.

The former minister also pointed to his 24 years in Parliament, stating that his record has never been associated with wrongdoing, and vowed to challenge the claims in court to clear his name.
