Former Adansi Asokwa MP K.T. Hammond has appealed for unity within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the party’s January 2026 presidential primaries.
Speaking during former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign tour in the Ashanti Region on September 10, Hammond expressed concern over rising internal divisions, which he attributed to divisive comments and attempts to sideline members without strong financial backing.
He urged party aspirants and members to prioritize unity over personal ambitions.
“Where were the rich people when we were struggling to raise money to establish the NPP in the 1990s? Where were they before the party won its first election? Some of us who supported the party don’t brag; we fought for this party with our blood and sweat,” he said.
“This behaviour of the rich distancing themselves from the poor must cease. The innuendos must stop, and the disunity must end,” Hammond added, emphasizing that unity and discipline are critical for securing victory for the NPP in the next elections.
