
The founder and Executive Director of Young Visionary Leaders Ghana (YVLG), was named one of the winners of the Joy News Impact Makers Awards 2025.
The awards ceremony, held at the prestigious Ecobank Headquarters in Accra on June 28, 2025, brought together outstanding individuals and organizations whose work continues to drive positive change and social impact across Ghana.
The Joy News Impact Makers Awards is a flagship initiative that celebrates trailblazers and changemakers who, through innovation, dedication, and resilience, are addressing some of Ghana’s most pressing developmental challenges.
Mr. Afangbe was recognized for his unwavering commitment to Youth/Child empowerment, Education, Health and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) interventions in underserved communities.
In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Afangbe expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the organisers, Multimedia Group, and all partners and sponsors of the awards.
He reaffirmed his dedication to creating lasting change through YVLG’s community-driven initiatives that empower children, young people, women and persons with disabilities.
“This award is a testament to the power of youth-led leadership and community partnerships. It affirms that even small acts of service can lead to big impact,” he said.
He further referenced a quote by Mother Teresa, which continues to inspire his work:
“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”
According to him, access to clean water is foundational it enables quality education, promotes good health and well-being, advances gender equality, and helps bridge the gap of social and economic inequality in Ghana.
This award follows years of impactful work by Young Visionary Leaders Ghana in improving access to quality education, promoting child rights, and providing clean water solutions to schools and communities, particularly in underserved communities in Ghana.
