Presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyepong, has described the party’s January 31 flagbearer primaries as a decisive contest for the “soul of NPP tradition.”
Addressing delegates in Accra on Tuesday, January 20, Agyepong said the primaries go beyond individual ambitions and must be guided by the party’s core values of unity, discipline, and service to the people.
He emphasized that the choice of a flagbearer should reflect the principles and traditions that have shaped the NPP, stressing the need for a leader capable of keeping the party united.
Agyepong also cautioned that unresolved divisions from past internal contests could weaken the party’s prospects in the 2028 general elections, warning against factionalism and internal rivalries.
“The unity of the party must guide every delegate’s decision,” he said, urging members to put the collective interest of the NPP above personal preferences.
