Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo is enjoying a dream start to his Manchester City career.
The 26-year-old continued his impressive form by opening the scoring in City’s 3‑0 victory over Fulham at the Etihad Stadium, netting in the 24th minute and helping the team close the gap on league leaders Arsenal.
Since his move from AFC Bournemouth, Semenyo has scored five goals in eight appearances. He also demonstrated his playmaking ability, setting up Nico O’Reilly for the second goal before Erling Haaland sealed the win.
Semenyo credits Manchester City’s welcoming environment and strong team culture for easing his transition.
“[There’s] no secrets! It’s just being part of a great team, a great environment. The coach has been great, and they’ve made it easy for me to settle. It’s all a fairytale right now,” he said.
Reflecting on the importance of the victory, Semenyo added:
“[It was] very important to win. That was the message from the Liverpool game — just backing up what we did on the weekend. It was a tough graft, and we got the three points; today we did the same thing. I’m happy.”
He also praised O’Reilly’s finishing:
“He’s very technical. When I slid him in, I knew he was going to score,” Semenyo said.
City now turn their focus to the FA Cup, where Semenyo will aim to extend his goalscoring streak against lower-tier Saltford FC this weekend.
