A fire at a vulcanizing shop near the Old ECG Office at Begoro Roundabout has destroyed a wooden structure, tyres and equipment, causing an estimated GH¢43,200 in damage.
The fire broke out on Saturday, October 10, 2026, and threatened nearby shops located under high-tension power lines, raising concerns about the potential spread of the blaze.
The Begoro Fire Station received a distress call at 6:52 p.m. and arrived at the scene nine minutes later to find the structure engulfed in flames.
Firefighting efforts were delayed while firefighters waited for the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to disconnect power, given the proximity of the fire to high-tension cables.

The crew brought the fire under control at 7:35 p.m. and completely extinguished it at 7:45 p.m. A fire tender from Bunso arrived later, at 8:09 p.m., after the blaze had been extinguished.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have been caused by an unattended fire set by the vulcanizer.

No casualties were recorded.
