Irate man shoots about 10 during fire outbreak at Madina Ritz Junction

At least 10 people were injured on Sunday afternoon following a fire outbreak at Ritz Junction in Madina, which escalated into chaos after an armed man allegedly opened fire on bystanders.

One of the victims, Ernest Opare—currently receiving treatment at Pentecost Hospital along with four others—confirmed the incident to Adom News.

Mr. Opare revealed that he sustained bullet wounds to his forehead, back, and buttocks.

According to him, the assailant, identified only as Area, appeared at the scene in a furious state and brandished a pump-action gun.

“In the full view of police and fire officers, Area began shooting indiscriminately at people and into the air,” he recounted.

He further accused the police present of failing to intervene or arrest the suspect, despite witnessing the attack.

The motive for the gunman’s actions remains unclear.

Meanwhile, the fire caused widespread destruction, burning down more than 50 wooden structures and metal containers, leaving many residents displaced.

The blaze, which reportedly started at a washing bay, drew a swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), with officers from the Madina Fire Station spearheading firefighting efforts.
