The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, acting on the advice of the National Security Council, has imposed a curfew on Nalerigu Township and its surrounding communities in the North East Region.
The curfew, imposed through an Executive Instrument, takes effect from Thursday, December 18, 2025, and will be enforced daily from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
In a statement, the government called on chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth and residents to exercise restraint and resort to non-violent means in addressing issues affecting the area, stressing the need to maintain peace and security.
As part of the security measures, the government has banned the carrying of arms, ammunition and other offensive weapons within the affected communities. Anyone found in possession of such items will be arrested and prosecuted.
The directives also prohibit the movement of motorbikes, the wearing of smocks, the sale of fuel in containers, and all forms of unlawful assembly.
Residents have been urged to fully comply with the restrictions to help ensure safety and stability during the curfew period.
