Immaturity cost us against Asante Kotoko – Golden Kick coach Parker Hanson

-

Golden Kick head coach Fiifi Parker Hanson believes his side could have lifted the FA Cup if they had more experienced players at their disposal.

The Division One outfit fell short in a 2-1 defeat to Asante Kotoko on Sunday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

In an interview with Sporty FM, Parker Hanson acknowledged that a lack of experience played a major role in their loss.

“I would have defeated Kotoko with experienced players,” he said, expressing disappointment over the missed opportunity.

“We have immature players. If I had three of Kotoko’s experienced players, I would have beaten Kotoko hands down without hesitation.

“You saw the immaturity in these boys [Golden Kick]. Sometimes they need to do the right thing, but because they don’t have the experience, they can’t. We wanted to win [the FA Cup] to make history,” he added.

Despite the setback, Golden Kick received plaudits for their impressive journey to the final.

As FA Cup champions, Asante Kotoko will represent Ghana in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
