Vice-presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has revealed that he remains the only minister to have added Frafra to Ghana’s approved languages of study.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Dr. Opoku Prempeh highlighted that while Ghana is rich in indigenous languages, only a handful are taught in schools and used for examinations.

“This country has many Ghanaian languages, but only a few are taught in schools. I am the education minister who added Frafra as a language of study that can be used in examinations,” he said.

He expressed concern that students from communities that do not speak the dominant languages used in schools often face academic disadvantages.

“We have several communities that do not speak the main languages taught in schools, so what happens to them? It’s worrying,” he added.
