Stephen Amoah, a member of Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign strategy team, has expressed surprise after Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia won the Nhyiaeso Constituency in the NPP presidential primary.

Per the provisional results, Bawumia received 379 votes, while Kennedy Agyapong polled 321 votes.

“I am very surprised. Delegates have made their decision, and we must respect it,” Stephen Amoah said, noting that he had expected Agyapong to win by a wider margin.

Prior to the election, Amoah had predicted that Kennedy Agyapong would perform strongly in seven regions during the NPP primaries, citing polling data that suggested Agyapong could secure 35 to 40% of votes on average.

Per his observation, most Ghanaians seem to support Kennedy Agyapong, and would want a different face to lead the NPP. However, the delegates voted otherwise.

Despite the unexpected result in Nhyiaeso, Amoah emphasized that the peaceful conduct of the election reflects the maturity of party delegates and the commitment to democratic processes within the NPP.
