Former Member of Parliament for Anyaa-Sowutuom, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, has expressed disappointment over the public endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia by over 60 sitting NPP MPs ahead of the party’s 2026 presidential primaries.
His reaction follows a closed-door meeting on Thursday, June 19, 2025, between the Vice President and a group of NPP parliamentarians who declared their support for his anticipated 2028 presidential bid.
Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Dr. Kissi said he found the move surprising, especially given earlier commitments by party leadership to maintain neutrality among MPs during internal contests.
“For me, yesterday I was a little sad because as parliamentarians, you need to be neutral in the interest of the party. I’m not saying they shouldn’t vote or have a preference, but I recall before I left Parliament, Majority Leader Afenyo-Markin emphasized that MPs should not take public sides to preserve party unity,” he stated.
