
The Council and Executive Committee of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Ghana (IET-GH), has extended its deepest condolences to President John Mahama, the government, and the bereaved families following the tragic crash of a Ghana Air Force helicopter on August 6, 2025, near Adansi Akrofoum in the Ashanti Region.
In a statement, IET-Ghana said, “We mourn the loss of eight distinguished Ghanaians who died in active service to the nation.”

According to the institution, the lives of the deceased reflected excellence, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to public service. “Their dedication to Ghana’s progress and well-being will remain a lasting legacy,” the statement added.
IET-Ghana also called on President Mahama to heed the urgent call from the Coalition Against Illegal Mining and take decisive action to end galamsey.
“The tragic loss of these gallant countrymen is a sobering reminder of the need for bold leadership to protect lives, preserve our environment, and safeguard our national future,” the statement emphasized.
The institution stressed that the moment calls for a resolute stance—one that addresses environmental degradation while honouring the memory of the departed.
“Swift, sustained action against illegal mining will be a fitting tribute to their sacrifice and a step towards securing a cleaner, safer, and more prosperous Ghana for generations to come. May their souls rest in perfect peace,” the statement signed by IET-GH President Engr. Henry Kwadwo Boateng concluded.
