IET-GH introduces award scheme to honour outstanding engineering graduates

The Institution of Engineering and Technology, Ghana (IET-GH), has introduced a new award scheme aimed at promoting excellence in engineering education across the country. According to the newly inducted President, Engr. Wonder Davor, the initiative aligns with the Institution’s strategic vision to champion high standards of engineering practice in both technical and traditional universities nationwide.

The maiden award ceremony took place on 29th November 2025, where the President’s representative, Engr. John Bentoom, First Vice President of IET-GH, presented awards to three outstanding graduates of Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) at the university auditorium.

The award recipients were:

  1. Theresah Gabriel – Best Graduating IET Student in B.Tech Mechanical Engineering (CGPA: 3.90)
  2. Anita Mensah – Best Graduating IET Female Student in Agricultural Engineering (CGPA: 3.86)
  3. Asuako Junior Sekyi – Overall Best Graduating IET Male Student

Each awardee received a citation, an outstanding award certificate, and a cash reward of one thousand Ghana cedis.

In his inaugural remarks, the new IET-GH President reaffirmed the Institution’s commitment to advancing engineering excellence and assured students that IET-GH stands ready to guide and support them as they transition into trainee engineers.
