Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has stressed the importance of dictating play when his side face Asante Kotoko in a crucial Ghana Premier League encounter on Sunday.
The Yellow and Mauve outfit welcome the Porcupine Warriors to the TNA Park for Matchday 29, with both sides chasing valuable points in a tightly contested league campaign.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Tanko described the clash as a major test, insisting his team must make full use of home advantage while maintaining control of proceedings.
“I think playing Kotoko is always a big game, not only because of the name Kotoko, but because of where we are in the league now. Every game is very important, and we are playing at home, so we want to control the game. We want to win definitely,” he said.
Despite acknowledging the difficulty of the task, Tanko expressed confidence in his squad’s preparation and determination to secure maximum points in front of their supporters.
“We want to keep our three points here. It’s not going to be easy, but as I said, we trained very well this week, and I hope that the boys will make it happen,” he added.
Victory for Medeama would see them climb back to the top of the league standings, following Bibiani GoldStars’ 2-1 defeat to Aduana FC at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park.
Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
