Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu says he would decline any appointment as Special Prosecutor (SP), even though he believes he is fully capable of performing in that role.

According to him, accepting the position at a time when he is publicly engaged in a dispute with the current Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, would create the false impression that he influenced Agyebeng’s removal for personal gain.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen on Thursday, December 4, 2025, Kpebu said, “Ideally, if not because of the fight between Kissi Agyebeng and me, I would have gladly accepted to be the SP, but people would think I asked for his removal so that I can take charge.”

He added that he believes he could excel in the position if both the president and the public found him suitable.

His comments follow his arrest on Wednesday, December 3, for allegedly obstructing an OSP officer. He was later granted bail with conditions that included providing landed property and a surety.
