Former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul has firmly rejected allegations that he sold military lands during his tenure, stressing that he would never engage in any act that brings disgrace to his family.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Nitiwul said his upbringing and the values instilled in him guide every decision he makes.

“Where I come from, there are some things I won’t do,” he stated. “My name, Nitiwul, is special. It’s a Konkomba name, and it is just my father who bears it. So I am very careful. I will not do anything that will bring disgrace to me or my family.”

He explained that neither he nor his parents come from wealthy backgrounds, so he has no reason to pursue questionable deals.

“My father was not rich but he was very modest. My mother is not rich—she’s still alive. So if it is money, where am I going to get it from? Why would I sell soldiers’ land, and for what?” he questioned.

Mr. Nitiwul added that if he ever needed money, he would resort to legitimate means such as farming.

“If I need money, I will go and do my farming,” he said. “If you gift me something, I will take it. I won’t deny that I have received gifts. I have received a lot of gifts. But to willingly go and do corruption or sell military lands—I won’t do that.”

He stressed emphatically: “I will never sell military lands.”

The former Defence Minister urged the public to disregard the allegations, insisting that his record and personal principles speak for themselves.
