Aduana FC head coach Cioabă Aristică has stated that his side will require at least five new signings if they are to mount a serious challenge for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title.
The two-time league champions are currently third on the table with 29 points, just one point adrift of joint leaders Medeama SC and Asante Kotoko after 16 matches.
Aduana were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against Young Apostles on Sunday at the Wenchi Sports Stadium, coming from behind in a Matchday 16 encounter that once again exposed the squad’s depth issues.
Speaking after the game, Aristică pointed to injuries and suspensions that have disrupted his team’s balance.
“You know I have injuries. One central defender, our captain Alex Boakye, is injured, and the quality that replaces him is not the same. The same is happening in our midfield, where Seidu Saana was suspended and is also injured,” Aristică said after the game.
“The striker, (Emmanuel) Marfo, who is our top scorer with six goals and is very important to us.”
The Romanian coach was candid in his assessment, insisting the current squad lacks the strength to sustain a title push.
“I gave one clear message to our management before this game. I told them that I needed some positions filled because if we go with this squad, I will not have a chance of winning the league title,” he said.
“I tell the truth, and if the management listens and brings the five players for the positions that I need, it is possible to fight for the top (spot). If they do not listen to me, I will not have the team to go and fight for the league title,” Aristică concluded.
Aduana will look to stay in the title race when they host Vision FC at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in their Matchday 17 fixture on Sunday.
