I want to win the World Cup – GFA president Kurt Okraku declares

-

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has declared his ambition to see Ghana win the FIFA World Cup during his tenure.

The Black Stars, who have qualified for the 2026 World Cup to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will be making another attempt to conquer the world stage next summer.

Ghana’s best performance at the global showpiece came in 2010, when the team reached the quarterfinals in South Africa, narrowly missing out on a historic semifinal berth.

Speaking to 3Sports, Mr Okraku said leading the country to World Cup glory remains his ultimate dream.

“I want to win the World Cup. I want to win the World Cup. I’m going to tell the coach that I want to win the World Cup. That should be our vision,” he told 3Sports.

“Because you don’t go to war thinking about not finishing it or not coming out as victors,” he added.

As part of preparations for the tournament, the Black Stars will play international friendlies against Japan and South Korea on November 14 and 18, respectively, in Asia.

Ghana will learn their group-stage opponents when the official draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup takes place on December 5.
