Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA), Professor Ransford Gyampo, has pledged to strengthen the authority’s role as a fair and effective regulator of the country’s shipping industry.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Prof. Gyampo said he wants the GSA to be recognized for proactive regulation that protects all stakeholders within the shipping sector, in line with the Shippers Authority Act, 1122.

He noted that progress has already been made since his team took office and emphasized that the interests of shippers remain a top priority.

“I want to be remembered for transforming the Ghana Shippers Authority into a strong and effective regulator of all shipping activities. By the time I leave, it should be recognized as a fair and robust protector of everyone involved in the shipping sector, as outlined in the Shippers Act 1122. Previously, there was a lack of confidence in the Shippers Authority.

“My goal is for the organization to regulate shipping fairly and effectively. We aim for proactive regulation of all shipping activities to support President Mahama in achieving his vision for the sector. We have seen progress since we assumed office, and things are falling into place. Ultimately, we want to ensure that the interests of shippers are not sacrificed,” he said.
