Nollywood actor and filmmaker Daniel Etim-Effiong has revealed that he prays before filming romantic scenes to stay grounded in his faith and values.
The actor said his spiritual discipline helps him handle the demands and temptations of his profession, describing his work as a form of worship.
Daniel Etim-Effiong hold the belief that creativity, whether kissing or intimate scenes, can also honour God.
Etim-Effiong, who made his directorial debut with The Herd, noted that romantic roles are often part of storytelling but believes filmmakers can explore other creative ways to express affection on screen.
He added that many Nollywood scripts emphasize passion because it sells, but he prefers to approach such roles with purpose and professionalism.
The fact that I play a lot of romantic roles means I get to have kissing scenes sometimes. But the question should go to the producers, why are they expressing affection only one way? There are other ways to show intimacy,” he said.
The 37-year-old, who left engineering to pursue acting, said faith, family, and focus remain his guiding principles both on and off set.
“My family is my garden, then my work. Acting feels like a calling to me, a way to worship through storytelling,” he added.
