I only met Kevin Taylor in court; we always spoke on phone – Lawyer [Video]

Peter Okudzeto, lawyer for social commentator Kevin Taylor, says he only met his client in person for the first time at the court premises and has no knowledge of his whereabouts or travel details.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Okudzeto explained that their communication had always been over the phone, and Mr. Taylor typically called him with an American number.

“We’ve never met before the court hearing. We always spoke on the phone. He calls me using an American number, so I don’t know how long he’s been in the country,” he said.

According to him, a client’s physical location is not a requirement for legal representation.

“If someone engages you as a lawyer, their residential address is not part of the agreement. We’ve handled cases for people living abroad, we just give them the court date and ask them to show up” he noted.

Commenting on concerns about Mr. Taylor’s presence in Ghana, Mr. Okudzeto said, “Whether they travel first class, VVIP, or economy class, we don’t care. What matters to us is that they appear in court.”

His remarks follow a Supreme Court ruling on July 21, 2025, which overturned a 2020 arrest warrant issued by the High Court for contempt.

The warrant was based on what the court then described as “extremely scandalous” comments Kelvin Taylor had made against the judiciary.
