Former Ghana international Awudu Issaka has confessed to using black magic during his time at German club 1860 Munich in a desperate attempt to secure more playing time.
Speaking on Accra-based Sporty FM on Monday, July 28, Issaka revealed he once sacrificed a cow and paid a spiritualist to spiritually sabotage German football legend Thomas Häßler, who was a key figure in the team.
“I did all sorts of things to destroy my teammate, including killing a cow,” he admitted. “When I went back to the team, he was more closer to me than before, so I knew it was working.”
Issaka said Häßler later told him he wouldn’t get playing time because the club would not bench a German international. Häßler even suggested Issaka move to another club for more minutes.
“After that, I called the person doing the incantation for me, and he said it was working. He requested more money, and I sent it. I even did another one at a time when cows were costly,” he recounted. “Because I didn’t listen to Häßler and stayed, he kept playing, and my career ended.”
Issaka now regrets his actions and warned current players to avoid spiritual shortcuts.
“I would advise footballers to abstain from resorting to the use of spiritual spells [juju] to thrive as a player because it won’t end well,” he cautioned.
Since retiring, the former U-17 World Cup star has set up a football academy to mentor young talents with a message of hard work and integrity.
