New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Youth Organiser hopeful, Chris Lloyd, says his experience in engaging young people and grassroots politics has prepared him to lead the party’s youth wing and help it regain power in the 2028 elections.
Mr Lloyd said he intends to bring a fresh approach to youth mobilisation while strengthening the party’s structures at the constituency level.
“I am very humble. I met the criteria as well. I engage with a lot of youth, and I believe with my experience, I need to bring it to support the youth wing,” he said.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mr Lloyd said the NPP needs a National Youth Organiser who understands grassroots politics and can connect effectively with young people across the country.
“We need someone with all the backgrounds who understands grassroots politics,” he stated.
He identified gaps in constituency-level youth programmes as an area he intends to address if elected.
“I want to close the gap for constituency youth wing programmes,” he said.
According to Mr Lloyd, the youth wing is one of the most visible and active structures within the NPP and therefore requires strong leadership and investment.
“The youth wing is the most active wing of our party in terms of visibility and attraction, and the youth is also many. I have so much to invest in the youth wing,” he stated.
Mr Lloyd said he is not seeking the position to replicate the approaches of previous National Youth Organisers but to establish his own legacy.
“I am not coming as a replica of the former youth organisers. I am coming to write history and make a statement, and I believe in 2028 the NPP will be back in power,” he said.
He described himself as a strong mobiliser capable of quickly rallying young people for the party’s activities.
“I’m a chief mobiliser. I can mobilise 1,000 youth for the party within 15 minutes with just a phone call,” he claimed.
Mr Lloyd said his ultimate objective is to mobilise young people who have become disengaged from the NPP, win them back to the party and contribute to its efforts to secure victory in 2028.
“I am competent. We all want the party to win the 2028 elections, and that’s my goal: to see that we are back in power, mobilise the youth and win them back for the party,” he added.
