AJ Auxerre defender Marvin Senaya has voiced his excitement after receiving his first call-up to the Black Stars.
The 25-year-old full-back has been included in the Black Stars squad for upcoming friendlies against Austria and Germany later this month.
“I feel a lot of pride and joy, and I hope there will be more call-ups [from Ghana],” Seneya told the club’s media.
“I was surprised, but I was also very proud because all the work I have put in has not been in vain. I am happy and very honoured,” he added.
Senaya’s international future, however, is currently under scrutiny. He has also been named in Togo’s squad for friendlies against Guinea and Niger, with Togo coach Patrice Neveu stating the player had previously expressed interest in joining their setup.
The dual interest has placed Senaya in a delicate position, as both nations seek to secure his long-term commitment.
For Ghana, head coach Otto Addo’s decision to call up Senaya reflects a strategic push to strengthen the right-back position, which has lacked consistency in recent years.
