Husband remanded over wife’s murder in Kumasi

remand court

A 45-year-old driver, Albert Cobbina, suspected of killing his wife, has been remanded into police custody by the Asante Akropong District Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District.

The plea of the suspect was not taken, and he is expected to reappear before the court, presided over by Mr. Emmanuel Wiafe Adu, on September 15, 2025.

Police Chief Inspector David Kwabi told the court that Cobbina and his late wife, Grace Asantewaa, lived at Fankyenebra near Santasi in the Kumasi Metropolis.

On August 24, 2025, the suspect reportedly informed the Suntreso Police that his wife had been found dead in a pool of blood, with a kitchen knife lying beside her.

According to the prosecution, Cobbina claimed he had rushed his wife to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

However, investigators said his statements were inconsistent, raising suspicion of foul play. He was subsequently detained and later charged in connection with his wife’s death.

He has since been arraigned before the court while further investigations continue.
