Two people are reportedly feared dead on the Volta Lake at Yeji while hundreds are stranded at river side following the closure of the Buipe Yapei Bridge.
Some other passengers are also said to be stranded at the Buipe side of the river.
This follows the closure of the Buipe Yapei Bridge for maintenance as a result of some cracks.
The closures, according to the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako Atta will help prevent disasters on the bridge.
However, it has created inconvenience for passengers who are left with no alternative than to cross the Volta Lake before they get to their destination.
Due to the large number of vehicles two people who were sick onboard some vehicles and were supposed to go for treatment at Tamale but could not make it have died.
Arise FM’s Daniel Takyi told Adom News some stranded drivers expressed their disappointment in the Minister for not putting what they describe as good measures in place before closing the bridge
Drivers who are locked up at the Buipe Bridge also expressed worry about the non-commencement of works on the bridge.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Roads and High Ways, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo has pleaded with passengers and drivers to be patient as they are doing everything possible to resolve the issue.
