Six market women has been suspended for flouting a law about the sale of plantain at Ahafo Hwidiem in the Brong Ahafo region.

According to reports, the women sell three fingers of plantain for GHC10.00 in contravention with an order given by the queen mother of the town.

Nana Ataa Adwoa Agyeiwaa Kodie in an interview with Adom News said they decided to reduce the prices of foodstuffs in the town given the crippling socio-economic conditions in the country.

She could not fathom why a food producing like Ahafo Hwidiem will have its people buy cassava and plantain at exorbitant price.

Therefore, she together with the market women agreed to reduce the prices of the foodstuff to ensure everyone can afford.

However, these six suspended women Nana Agyeiwaa Kodie stated decided to seek their selfish interest.

“I won’t allow them to enrich themselves at the expense of the people in the town” she stressed.

Going forward, Nana Agyeiwaa Kodie said she will ensure all the market women reduce their prices.
