A former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) is amazed at the fear of prosecution being expressed by some appointees of the Mahama-led administration following the election of Nana Akufo-Addo as president.

According to Professor Stephen Adei, only ‘witches’ who have stolen from the state will fear ant attempt by the incoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) to hunt them down.

The former GIMPA rector’s comment comes after the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) called for unity within their ranks to resist any political witch hunting by the Akufo-Addo government.

The party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia popularly known as General Mosquito as a news conference in Accra revealed that the NPP will jail all of them if they are not united.

But Prof. Adei on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday expressed shock at the panic reaction of the NDC.

He could not fathom why members of the NDC are going through self-inflicted psychological torture when the president-elect has stated unequivocally that he [Nana] will not engage in witch hunting.

Prof. Adei indicated that, the appointment of an Independent Prosecutor as promised by Nana Akufo-Addo will absorb his [Nana] government from blame.

The former GIMPA Rector said he will elated if former Attorney General under the erstwhile Mills administration, Martin Amidu will be appointed the Independent Prosecutor to prosecute the NPP’s anti-corruption agenda.
