Napoli went top of Serie A after Rasmus Hojlund’s double saw them battle to a 2-1 victory over Juventus.
Returning to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona for the first time since leaving Napoli in 2023, Juve boss Luciano Spalletti thought his team had fought back to claim a point when Kenan Yildiz restored parity in the 59th minute.
Yildiz struck at the end of a swift counter-attack, with Juve having been on the back foot for much of the contest despite facing a depleted Napoli team.
But Hojlund, who had opened the scoring with a poacher’s finish from David Neres’ cross early on, was on hand to seal all three points for Antonio Conte’s team when he headed in from close range with 12 minutes of normal time remaining.
Victory propels Napoli into top spot ahead of AC Milan playing against Torino on Monday, while Juve remain in seventh, eight points off the Serie A pacesetters.
