Hohoe United head coach Tijani Abdul Rahim Bashiru has commended his players for their discipline and resilience after holding giants Hearts of Oak to a goalless draw on their Ghana Premier League debut.
The newly promoted side marked their first-ever top-flight match with a hard-fought point in the 2025/26 season opener at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night.
Hohoe United frustrated the Phobians with a compact defensive approach, effectively shutting down their attacking threats throughout the 90 minutes.

Speaking after the game, Coach Bashiru praised his players’ tactical awareness and mental toughness.
“Tactically, we played very well because before coming into this game, we knew the team we were coming to meet,” he said.
“We watched them, we kept our team tactically and mentally. Playing against Hearts of Oak is not all about physical ability but mental strength. My boys did so well and played according to the plan,” he added.
Hohoe United will now shift focus to their Week 2 clash against Young Apostles next weekend.
