The Hohoe Municipal Assembly, in partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES), has celebrated excellence in education at this year’s Best Teacher/Workers Awards, held under the theme “Elevating the Status of Teachers for Quality Education.”
The ceremony, which brought together educators, stakeholders, traditional leaders and community members, highlighted the essential role teachers and non-teaching staff play in shaping the future of the municipality and the nation at large.
The theme underscored the need to uplift the teaching profession, recognizing that quality education is deeply linked to the motivation, welfare and professional development of teachers.

Speaking at the event, the MCE for the Hohoe Municipal Assembly, Mr. Prosper Kumi, stated that the theme reflects the pivotal role teachers play in shaping the municipality’s future. He acknowledged their invaluable contribution to delivering quality education.
“Permit me to reference a profound statement from the speech delivered by our Vice President at the recently held National Teachers Prize Ceremony; the talents, skills and attitudes of our educators drive the 24-hour economy agenda and accelerate our overall development. This statement emphasises how Ghana’s development is closely tied to the dedication of its teachers,” the MCE said.
He urged all residents of the municipality to reaffirm their commitment to supporting teachers and enhancing the quality of education. He further encouraged stakeholders to work together to create an environment where educators can thrive and learners can achieve their full potential.

Mr. Prosper Kumi also praised the awardees for their dedication, resilience and unwavering commitment to nurturing learners despite the challenges within the education sector.
The Member of Parliament for the Hohoe Constituency, Mr. Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, in his remarks, reiterated his long-held belief that education is the greatest equalizer in life. He stated that as MP, he has demonstrated this conviction not only in words but in action.
He assured the Education Directorate that the ceremony marks a beginning rather than an end. “I can confidently assure all our gallant educators that the years ahead will be even greater. We intend to lift this awards scheme higher—from standing fans to bigger rewards, including car prizes and other major incentives deserving of excellence.”
Mr. Tsekpo charged all teachers and educational workers to move forward with renewed commitment to transform their schools, strengthen educational foundations and nurture the future leaders of Hohoe Municipality, Ghana, Africa and the world.
He also reiterated government’s commitment to supporting teacher development through improved working conditions, training programmes and the provision of teaching and learning materials.
The Municipal Director of Education, together with Assembly representatives, presented awards to outstanding teachers and education workers across various categories, acknowledging excellence in classroom delivery, leadership, innovation and administrative support. Several awardees expressed gratitude, noting that the recognition would further inspire them to continue giving their best.
The ceremony featured cultural performances, goodwill messages from partner institutions and calls for stronger collaboration between communities and schools to enhance academic outcomes.
Stakeholders concluded the event with a renewed commitment to prioritizing the welfare of educators and strengthening structures that promote effective teaching and learning in the Hohoe Municipality.
The 2025 Best Teacher/Workers Awards once again reaffirmed the central message of the day: empowering teachers is essential to achieving quality education for all.
