Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, says he is unaware of whether GFA President Kurt Okraku intends to seek a third term in office.
His comments follow a proposal by the FA’s Statute Review Committee suggesting an extension of the presidential tenure from two to three terms.
The proposal has been submitted to clubs ahead of the GFA’s 31st Ordinary Congress, scheduled for August 12, 2025, at the Ghanaman Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
The timing of the proposal has sparked speculation that the move is intended to pave the way for Okraku, who also serves as CAF’s 2nd Vice President, to remain at the helm for a third term.
However, when asked directly about Okraku’s future plans, Asante Twum maintained that he had not been briefed on any such intention.
“I don’t know if Kurt Okraku will contest for a third term in office. He has not spoken to me about it, so I don’t know his decision for now,” he told GTV Sports Plus.
“He is in his second term in office, and he is in his second year of that term, so I don’t know what will happen,” he added.
In addition to the proposed term extension, the Statute Review Committee has recommended a new leadership structure for the GFA, including the introduction of two vice presidents—one of whom must be a woman dedicated to advancing women’s football in the country.
Kurt Okraku was first elected president of the GFA in 2019 and secured a second term in 2023.
