
The funeral rites of late Minister for Environment, Technology and Innovation, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, will come off today, August 7, 2025.
Mourners will converge at the Anbariya Islamic Institute in Tamale at 10 a.m. for the Janaza prayers.
The burial at the Zujung Cemetery will follow the prayer session.
Dr. Mohammed, who was also the Tamale Central MP, was killed in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, together with eight others.
Also onboard the military Z-9 helicopter was Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, en route to Obuasi for a national assignment.
Also among the deceased were Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, and three members of the Ghana Air Force — Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flight Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Meanwhile, President John Mahama has declared a three-day national mourning with flags to fly at half-mast in honour of the victims.
