Helicopter crash: Buem Traditional Council pays tribute to victims

The Buem Traditional Council in the Oti Region has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of two Ministers of State and six other public servants, leaving the country in a state of profound grief and mourning.

In a heartfelt statement led by Nana Tettey Brantuo Kpesseh of Jasikan, who is also the Adontehene of the Buem Traditional Council, along with other chiefs and queen mothers, the Council conveyed its condolences to the President of the Republic, the bereaved families, and the entire nation.

The traditional leaders mourned not only the passing of these distinguished sons of the land but also the deep pain and void left in the hearts of their families, colleagues, and the many individuals whose lives they touched through their dedicated service to Ghana.

According to Nana Brantuo, their departure has created a significant void in the country; however, their legacy of service, dedication, and patriotism remains indelible.

They also extended their heartfelt condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the government, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), and the bereaved families.

In their expressions of sorrow for the tragedy that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the chiefs emphasized that as custodians of the land and its heritage, they wish to record the immense sacrifices these brave individuals made for the progress and unity of Ghana.

Their commitment to the national cause exemplifies the highest ideals of service and courage, inspiring everyone to promote peace, unity, and prioritize the development of our beloved nation above self-interest.

Nana Brantuo acknowledged that their sacrifices reflect the true spirit of patriotism and resilience that defines Ghana. He urged Ghanaians to remember the preciousness of life, the importance of unity, and the dignity of serving the motherland.

He also reminded everyone that each individual has a role to play in the development of the country, even at the risk of their lives. Nana Brantuo advocated for unity as the nation honors their memory and pledges to uphold the values they championed.
