Helicopter crash: ARCC urges public to return items taken from scene, announces cash reward

The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) has announced a cash reward for anyone who voluntarily returns items taken from the site of Wednesday’s military helicopter crash in Adansi-Akrofuom.

A statement signed by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, urged all persons in possession of any item to return it by Monday, August 11, 2025, to redeem the reward.

“The ARCC is prepared to provide a cash reward to any individual who willingly hands back any such item. This arrangement will be in place until the close of day, Monday, 11th August 2025. Anyone found with these items after the deadline will be treated as a criminal and prosecuted accordingly,” the statement said.

The statement noted that intelligence reports suggest that some residents removed metals, screws, drives, circuit boards, and other belongings from the wreckage of the crash, which claimed eight lives, including two cabinet ministers.

The Council has therefore encouraged the return of any recovered items regardless of size to Unit Committees, Assembly Members, Municipal or District Chief Executives, or members of the investigative team stationed at the scene.
