Heavy rains cause severe damage on Buduburam-Aprah road [Video]

The Buduburam-Aprah main road has split into two after heavy rains flooded the area, leaving commuters and residents stranded.

The floodwaters have submerged the road, causing significant inconvenience and posing safety risks to motorists and pedestrians navigating the affected stretch.

In an interview with Adom News, frustrated commuters revealed that some individuals have taken advantage of the situation by charging passersby a fee to carry them across the flooded road.

Following the torrential rains, the Okrudu River has also overflowed its banks, submerging over 200 houses in the area.

Some affected residents have appealed to the Gomoa East District Assembly, their Member of Parliament Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, and President John Dramani Mahama to come to their aid.

They also called for the immediate demolition of a fuel station they claim has been constructed on a waterway, which they believe is contributing to the flooding.

Meanwhile, the Assemblyman for the Gomoa Buduburam Electoral Area, Emmanuel Dogbey, who visited the scene, described the situation as dire and in urgent need of attention.
