Communications Director of Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo, has confirmed that the club is actively engaging with New Edubiase United to resolve the transfer ban imposed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The Accra-based giants were sanctioned after failing to comply with a GFA directive to pay $70,000 owed to New Edubiase.
The ban was enforced under Article 15(1)(c) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, following the club’s failure to meet the final payment deadline of May 31, 2025.
The amount includes a $50,000 balance from the transfer of midfielder Salim Adams, along with an additional $20,000 representing 40% of a sell-on clause, as determined by the GFA Players’ Status Committee.
Although both clubs previously met in March 2025 in an attempt to settle the matter amicably, Hearts of Oak reportedly did not fulfill their obligations under the agreement.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Opare Addo acknowledged the club’s failure to meet the deadline but stressed that discussions are ongoing to bring the issue to a close.
“This is an issue that is being resolved, and when it’s eventually resolved, New Edubiase will confirm it,” he revealed.
“The two parties are in constant touch to ensure that the issues are being resolved,” he added.
