In-form Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has received a brand-new car from Alhaji Seidu Agongo, Chief Executive Officer of Class Media Group.
The presentation took place on Wednesday at the club’s commercial centre and follows a viral video that stirred public sympathy and support for the player.
Asare, a former Great Olympics shot-stopper, captured national attention when he was spotted riding in the front seat of a “trotro” shortly after making his debut for the Black Stars.
He featured in Ghana’s back-to-back victories over Chad and Madagascar during the March international window.
The video triggered widespread reactions on social media, with many calling for better recognition and support for home-based footballers.
In response to the gift, an emotional Asare expressed his gratitude.
“I thank all the supporters of Hearts of Oak and everyone. It is incredible for such a lovely gesture to be extended to someone like me,” Asare said.
“I thank the whole nation and the president for this opportunity. I also thank my coach, Ouattara, and everyone who has helped me. I thank Ghanaians as well. God willing, we will be at the World Cup.”
Asare has been one of the standout performers in the Ghana Premier League this season, recording 15 clean sheets in 24 appearances.
His steady presence between the posts has been instrumental in Hearts of Oak’s push for a strong league finish.
The Phobians currently sit 10 points behind league leaders GoldStars with four matches left in the season. They face Berekum Chelsea next on Matchday 31.
