Former Team Manager of Accra Hearts of Oak, Sabahn Quaye, has voiced deep concern over what he describes as a toxic atmosphere within the club, citing widespread backstabbing as a major obstacle to progress.
His remarks come as the club undergoes a rebuilding phase under newly appointed head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, who has been tasked with reviving the team’s fortunes ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
Speaking in an interview on Fire for Fire on Adom TV, Quaye acknowledged the dedication of Board Chairman Togbe Afede XIV but pointed to internal divisions that, in his view, are undermining the club’s efforts.
“Togbe Afede is doing well so far, but there is a lot of backstabbing in the team—from the board to the playing body,” Quaye stated.
Reflecting on his own time with the club, he added, “It was not like that during my time as Team Manager.”
Quaye, widely respected for his no-nonsense approach and commitment to discipline during his tenure, stressed the importance of unity and integrity—values he believes once defined the club but are now fading from within.
