Hearts of Oak assistant coach Abdul Gazale has hinted that goalkeeper Benjamin Asare could make a return to the starting lineup ahead of the club’s trip to face Aduana FC on Sunday.
The Phobians travel to the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park to take on the two-time Ghana Premier League champions in a Matchday 15 encounter.
Asare, who has been sidelined for several weeks, returned to training earlier this week and is now in contention for selection.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Gazale explained that a final decision will be taken after consultations with the technical team and the goalkeeping coach.
“We are looking at how we are going to put our squad together, including Benjamin Asare. If it is necessary for the goalkeeper’s trainer to add Asare, then why not?”
He added that caution will be exercised if the goalkeeper is deemed not fully ready.
“If the goalkeeper’s trainer sees that he [Benjamin Asare] needs more time, we have others who can easily do the job for us,” Gazale added.
Asare’s impressive performances over the past two seasons have established him as the Black Stars’ first-choice goalkeeper.
The much-anticipated game is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT.
