Heart of Lions not under pressure in title race – Bashir Hayford

-

Heart of Lions head coach, Bashir Hayford, has downplayed any pressure on his side to win the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title, despite their strong position in the standings.

The Kpando-based club currently sits third on the league table with 54 points, just three points behind leaders Nations FC, as the season enters its final stages.

This Sunday, the Lions will travel to the Wenchi Sports Stadium to face struggling Young Apostles in a Matchday 32 clash — a game that could prove crucial in the title race.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Hayford admitted that his squad is feeling the effects of a long season but insisted there’s no added pressure to clinch the title.

“I’ve gone beyond pressure because we said we didn’t want to struggle as we did last season, and that is over. But now we are contending for the league title, so there is no pressure,” he said.

“Pressure will be on those who planned to win the league. That’s where the pressure will come, but not on us,” he added.

Kick-off for Sunday’s match is set for 15:00 GMT.
