Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has taken steps to assist the mother of the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, following the helicopter crash.

Mr. Akandoh, on Wednesday evening, arranged for the grieving mother to be transferred to Accra for specialised medical care.

The fatal incident occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region and led to the deaths of eight individuals, including several high-ranking public officials: Dr. Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed.

The rest were Presidential staffer Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

Dr. Boamah is reported to be the only child of his mother.

In light of her emotional distress and health needs, Mr. Akandoh intervened to ensure she receives proper medical support and comfort during this difficult time.

Dr. Boamah’s mother has been designated medical personnel to monitor her condition closely in Accra, in the company of close family members.

Meanwhile, government officials have visited the bereaved families of the eight victims to commiserate with them.
