Headmaster allegedly locks up BECE candidates over unpaid fees

-

Two pupils of the Big Six International School in Meduma, Ashanti Region, on Monday, June 16, 2025, missed their Mathematics paper in the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

A report by Accra-based Citi News suggests the candidates were locked in a room by their headmaster due to outstanding school fees.

The pupils were scheduled to write the exam at Simms High School in Fawoade, located in the Kwabre East Municipality, but could not join their colleagues for the paper.

The identities of the affected candidates are yet to be confirmed, and the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have not officially commented on the matter.
