The Director of Communications at Ghana Water Limited (GWL), Stanley Martey, says irregular water supply in parts of Accra and other urban centres can be addressed if residents consistently provide feedback to the company.
His remarks come amid complaints from residents in areas including Spintex Batsona, Teshie, and Nungua, who say they have limited access to water and are often forced to buy from private vendors at high prices.
Speaking on Citi FM, Mr. Martey explained that GWL’s recently published rationing programme is designed to keep the public informed about water distribution schedules.
“We published the new rationing programme so that everybody will know when they will have water. Our issue now is that we need feedback from the people to ensure that water reaches everywhere. We go around the community, take feedback, and see things for ourselves,” he said.
He noted that while water is flowing in some areas, supply has become irregular in others, stressing that feedback from residents helps the company make the necessary adjustments.
“The water has been flowing, except that it is not regular this time around. People who used to get water about four times a week are now getting it once or twice a week,” Mr. Martey said.
GWL has therefore urged residents to actively engage with the company by reporting areas experiencing irregular supply, emphasizing that community feedback is key to ensuring fair and efficient water distribution across affected communities.
