Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has expressed deep anguish, alleging that he was prevented from spending time with his critically ill father while he was in detention.
His comments come days after announcing the sudden death of his father on Sunday, February 15, 2026 — a loss that has drawn widespread sympathy.
In an emotional message shared after the burial announcement, Mr Ofosu Nkansah suggested that “those in power” denied his request to remain in Kumasi to be with his ailing father during his final moments.
“Those with power now who refused my request to spend more time in Kumasi to observe my seriously sick old boy too I thank you. I guess you are happy now,” he wrote.
Mr Ofosu Nkansah had earlier described his father’s death as shocking, noting that he had not suffered any prolonged illness and had been attending routine medical check-ups prior to his sudden passing.
He was formally charged by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) with publishing false news.
The charge stems from comments he made during a radio interview regarding alleged irregularities in the awarding of overseas scholarships, an issue that prompted President John Dramani Mahama to order an investigation.
He was granted bail on February 11, 2026.
