The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has directed all prospective applicants seeking employment in agencies under the Ministry of Education to submit their academic credentials for verification as part of the recruitment process.
The directive follows clearance granted for recruitment into various agencies under the Ministry, with the Commission stressing the need for thorough validation of qualifications before any appointments are finalised.
In a statement issued on Thursday, April 9, the Commission urged applicants to present their tertiary-level certificates, including diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees and PhDs, for evaluation to confirm their authenticity.
According to GTEC, the exercise is aimed at addressing growing concerns over the use of fraudulent certificates and qualifications obtained from unaccredited or unrecognised institutions.
The Commission, established under the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020 (Act 1023), is mandated to accredit both public and private tertiary institutions and their programmes, as well as verify academic credentials.
It further stressed that the verification process will be a key requirement in the ongoing recruitment exercise, ensuring that only qualified and properly certified individuals are considered for employment within the education sector.
GTEC also urged all prospective applicants to treat the directive with urgency as efforts intensify to protect the integrity and standards of Ghana’s education system.
