Ghanaian highlife musician Fameye has been honoured by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) for his significant contribution to the country’s creative industry.
The recognition was during the maiden edition of a new initiative to celebrate the Highlife Artiste of the Year, in collaboration with the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and other stakeholders within the tourism sector.
At the ceremony, Fameye received a citation for his role in promoting highlife music.
In addition to the citation, he was presented with a cheque of GHS 10,000, an unexpected gesture of support facilitated through the kind courtesy of renowned broadcaster and tourism ambassador Abeiku Santana.
The event also brought together legendary highlife musicians and cultural ambassadors.
Fameye described the experience as fulfilling, especially being given the opportunity to connect with the very icons who have paved the way for the genre.
He is optimistic that this recognition will become an annual tradition aimed at strengthening the bond between culture and music.
Fameye expressed deep appreciation for the honour and pledged to continue representing Ghanaian music on both local and international platforms.
