The Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic military helicopter crash that occurred on August 6 in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, claiming the lives of eight public servants, including two government ministers.
In a statement signed by its President, King Prof. Odaifio Welentsi III, Nungua Mantse, on Friday, August 8, 2025, the House described the incident as a national tragedy that has deeply shaken the entire country.
“The Regional House of Chiefs was shocked to its bone when the news broke out about the tragic incident which claimed the lives of eight gallant men of this country,” the statement read.
“Regrettably, we can only grieve with the President, Members of Parliament, the Ghana Armed Forces, the families of our departed heroes, and the entire nation.”
The House called on the public to show respect and give privacy to the grieving families, emphasizing that this national loss should serve as a rallying point for unity.
“Their death should unite us and not divide us as a nation. May God strengthen the President, Members of Parliament, the Ghana Armed Forces, the bereaved families, and the entire nation as we go through these hard times.
“May the departed souls have eternal rest peacefully in the bosom of our Creator. It is well with our souls,” King Prof. Odaifio Welentsi III concluded.
