Grant Ofori-Atta’s request for virtual session – MP appeals to OSP

Gushegu Member of Parliament (MP) Alhassan Tampuli has appealed to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to accept former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s request for a virtual interrogation in the ongoing investigation.

The former Deputy Transport Minister urged Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng to leverage available technology to enable Mr. Ofori-Atta to respond to the allegations.

“What is important for me is that there are other options available for Ken Ofori-Atta to engage the OSP.

“In this era of digitisation, we should be able to see some amount of change. The OSP should take advantage of this digital platform and engage him,” he urged in an interview on Accra-based Citi FM.

Mr. Ofori-Atta, who is under investigation for suspected corruption, was scheduled to appear before the OSP on Monday, June 2, for questioning.

However, he requested to engage with the OSP through a virtual meeting following an official summons, citing ill health—but the request was declined.

At a press conference on Monday evening, Mr. Agyebeng declared the former minister wanted and initiated processes to secure an INTERPOL Red Notice—an international alert that could lead to his arrest and extradition.

Mr. Agyebeng also insisted that no formal medical report has been submitted to support Mr. Ofori-Atta’s absence, describing it as an act of bad faith.
